“The internet of things”, the “always on, always connected” world that we now find ourselves living in has changed how we behave towards one another…or has it?
All too often we hear about friends out to dinner where once the meal is ordered the rest of the time is spent texting, tweeting, checking in and posting up the “best desert ever” on Facebook. Boring weekly management meetings are perfect for losing oneself in keeping up with the latest cricket scores – great 2013 Ashes win for the Aussies BTW – and organising your social calendar.
Teenagers being teenagers…moody, seemingly disengaged from the rest of the family are particularly guilty of having technology locked solid about their person and permanent RSI of the thumbs. However, this little Christmas piece from Apple brings home the fact that technology is here to stay, always on, always connected, but it is the human in charge of it that brings it all back to the real world and our emotional wellbeing.
Sorry, but it looks like Apple removed its promo video from a couple years ago. Try the latest one, again the focus on being human:
Hope you like it and enjoy the Christmas and New Year break with your friends, family, neighbours and fellow Earthlings.
Peace.
Arun
Also, let’s not forget the good folks at Westjet making wishes come true in the flash of a plane ride…
